Hello everyone, This shot is from the high Caucasus adventure June/July 2021. It’s a combination of exposures taken at sunrise and blend together. This place is a magical place where time stood still. It’s the highest settlement in Europe situated at 2100m high. The towers which are featured in my composition are defensive towers. Those towers houses stand since the medieval time because they were built to defend and relay the information of incoming enemies in the region. When I write “time stood still” it’s because I’ve seen agriculture and other techniques still used in this region which are long forgotten in other parts of the world. I witnessed the best young riders I’ve ever seen in my life (and my daughter is a rider). Those very young kids ride like humans use to do before engines, making one with the horse, galloping up and down the mountains to gather the cattle or simply having fun racing each other on a horse. The area is snow-covered for 6 months of the year, and often the road to the mountains is impassible. Nonetheless, some tourism (mostly Russian) arrived at the village and the negative point of that is that sometimes villagers built small hotels which are anachronic with the place. Not ugly but anachronic especially when you always check the details as a photographer. I wish those places could be preserved but it’s out of my ends and I can understand that tourism is a source of income, and that local people don’t want to turn there back on it. Cheers!
