Mount Artos (Turkish: Çadır Dağı, Armenian: Արտոս) is a dormant volcano at an elevation of 3.225m (10,580ft) above the sea level, located in Van Province in eastern Turkey.Artos Mountain rises in all its glory right across Akdamar Island.It is the continuation of the Southeast Taurus Mountains. It is also known as Tent Mountain due to its appearance.Due to the microclimate created by the Van Sea, there are significant differences between the south face and the north face of the mountain in terms of climate.It is one of the few geographies of the world especially in terms of butterfly population. It is home to about 200 species of butterflies. Accessibility is largely limited to the summer season. The summit offers stunning views over the Lake of Van.
