A couple of days ago I asked my followers on Instagram if they knew about @themirages , a project I’ve been working on for a couple of years now, the one I consider one of the most precious to me. I was very surprised to find out that 90% of my followers haven’t even heard about it once. I always thought that I could skip telling people on social media what I do. I mean, I post photos, stories, people leave their comments and likes, what else can I share? Well that was a mistake, and now I see that sharing more is important. When the project started in 2014, in our first shooting, I tried to combine the flexibility and body lines of the ballet dancers with additional shot dynamics of floating flour and the metaphor it added. To be completely honest, we sucked at first. 20 kilos of flour wasn’t nearly enough. With each shooting we increased the amount of flour, and now a single day of shooting requires us to bring 150 kilos. Unsurprisingly, not a single studio in Moscow allows my team in twice, because the flour clogs ventilation. There were only three of us in the team, and I’m still wondering how come we’re not buried in flour already. Right now you can purchase prints at TheMirages.com ❤️
