Kuril islands expedition by Daniel Kordan

I’m back from expedition to Kuril islands. This is a 2-row panorama from Onekotan island. Few years ago while scouting on Google maps I stumbled on a crazy island in Pacific Ocean: the island had a lake in the middle, with huge volcanic cone nested inside with a smaller lake on the very top of the cone. Since then I dreamt to visit Onekotan island. We went to explore the island on yacht from Kamchatka peninsula. First try was in vane: 2 days sailing, 16 km hike, waiting all day long in deep fog. Second try was successful: volcanic cone appeared above the fog like a castle in the sky. Not a single photo can express the scale and the vastness of this place. I asked my friend Alex to step on a ridge to express the scale. In the next posts I’ll show you some aerial panoramas from Onekotan.
