Romancing the Light by Timothy Poulton

When I first decided to travel to Patagonia in winter the naysayers came out in force, telling me the weather will be horrendous, you’ll get no colour, but I stuck to me stubborn guns and backed myself. I’ll be the first one to admit that I rarely think things through when it comes to adventure, I just get on a plane and go with my instincts. Obviously, I do my research and pick the most epic place on the planet, but I could be dead the next day, and I’ll be fucked if I’m missing out on anything. It’s just a reverb in my mind that repeats the beautiful word, YES!!!! My first real session with the Nikon Z7 for photography and the Z6 for time lapse. The simplicity of using two cameras with identical systems and strengths make it an enjoyable experience. Using the 14-30mm f4 on the Z7 for landscapes is the most versatile lens, going from a super wide angle at 14mm and with a flick of the wrist 30mm for stitching panoramics. For time-lapse I have the incredible super sharp 24-70mm f2.8 on the Z6 going from semi wide angle scenes to intimate zooms of the peaks. The intuitive Time Lapse function is just so simple pumping out smooth as silk 4K videos. Not only is this a brilliant bit of kit, but it’s also lightweight, versatile, and the level of detail and dynamic range is mind-blowing. Patagonia Winter is probably the most incredible place to be on earth, back to scenes where not a single soul is around, freezing cold just the way I like it and colour that lasts for hours. Join me next year on this epic adventure, including Puma Photography, Official Towers Trek, and 14 days of pure landscape photography. Light is the endless romance in my life, falling in love for the first time, again, and again. oneofakind.photography
