Great Escape by Timothy Poulton
The Black Beach in Vik Iceland is one of the most dangerous beaches on the planet due to volatile and unpredictable waves, and they are well capable of dragging unfortunate people away. Getting to this part of the beach it has to be low tide, but you still need to be wary of this killer beach. In the middle of summer ten years ago you wouldn’t have been surprised to discover you had the whole place to yourself. Today you are lucky to find a parking spot during busy hours! Just after I captured this unique composition, a massive wave almost took me out. If it wasn’t for the rock, I was perched on I’d be fish food. Tip for tourists. If you see a photographer all set up, please don’t stand right behind them as we need to be able to make our escape if any waves come in. Apologies to the girl behind me but it was my reflex kicking in.
