The medieval Gothic style has produced only two significant church towers of this openwork type: Strasbourg and Friborg. All other similar towers such as in Ulm or Regensburg are works of neo-Gothic of the 19th century. The west facade with the two towers is over 7100 m² and is the largest double tower facade in the world. Cologne Cathedral was the tallest building in the world from 1880 to 1884. He is also the most visited attraction in Germany: the cathedral chapter is 20,000 to 30,000 visitors per day, which corresponds to seven to eight million visitors annually.
