I finally found some time to dive into my archives and dust of some lost and burried work. It was nice seeing this one back… The circumstances back then were quite harsh (-12 °C / 10.4°F) and it was totally freezing…. My body was so cold that I could hardly release that shutter button anymore. My camera was getting subcooled, too and more and more buttons stopped functioning, until the focus button was pretty much the only one left. (all I needed :D) That’s what happens when you lie in the snow for hours. Me and my cam weren’t used to this circumstances. And yet….thinking back, I feel nothing but warmth. I remember the snow like a soft bed, in stead of cold and uncomfortable. I remember the total calm, dispite the heavy blizzard. I remember I felt so totally in the moment, that cold and discomfort just didn’t exist. It was only afterwards that I felt how I was chilled to the bone. And I remember these beautiful red creatures doing this magical dance right in front of me…. And for those who think I must have reached the state of hypothermia and started to hallucinate… I’ve got the photos to prove it 😉 .
