Beyond The Pale by Timothy Poulton

Motukiekie is a hidden wonderland; the beach is absolutely stunning; along with the sea stacks, there are colourful cliffs, sandy beaches, rocky formations, rock pools, vivid red starfish and large boulders scattered about as if they’d been thrown over the top by a giant. The track down to the beach is the quickest route, although a little sketchy is relatively easy to find and navigate. Motukiekie Beach has endless compositions and caves for that perfect frame. To capture this scene I had to wedge myself in this cave and with the incoming tide had to shimmy up the rocks to avoid being washed away. I couldn’t see the tide coming but I could certainly hear it.
