I took this image 2 years ago and honestly, it was just too much of a project to put together at that time and I subsequently moved on. It wasn’t until I was developing some new manual stitching techniques that I had something of a revelation here, about how I would put it together. This is a 12-shot stitch and also each image was a major focus stack. These improbable Penstemon flowers come up every year here, amazing little footprint-sized gems of pink adorning the steep, dry, volcanic hillside squeezing what little they can from the fleeting snowmelt to further their existence. Wizard Island greets the sun atop the glassy lake beyond. Thanks for looking.
