The Glow Of Sunset by The Narratographer

This afternoon, I decided to head over to Portland to see if I could get some nice sunset images. Actually, that isn’t entirely true. It was Matt’s idea. He had driven all the way from the other side of Dorset and asked me to meet up, claiming that the sunset was going to be fantastic. My car is in the garage at the moment and they have given me a “turd-on-wheels” that barely goes about 45mph. Still, I decided I would join him. By the time I arrived, the place was rammed with kids and families. I have nothing against people visiting places, but during the school holidays there is not a place you can visit in Dorset where there aren’t at least 50 of these ‘tourists’ kicking footballs and flying kites. Normally, I wouldn’t care, but when you are trying to capture images, it is the last thing you need. So, I left almost immediately, without even getting my camera out. By the time I was halfway home, I could see a little pink in the sky and seeing I had just as far to get home as I did to get back to Portland, I turned around and headed seawards. When I arrived once more, the place was a lot quieter than before and the sky was turning angry. I set up, put on my polariser and watched the colours come to life. I literally had 10 minutes before it would be dark, but I managed to fire off a few shots before it did.
