A little family vacation down to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. And I know most of you are like me—you sneak in some photography time whenever you can. My only option was for sunrise, where I was lucky enough to at least have some rocks and surf to play with just outside of our house. This was the best spot I could find, with that little ridge as my mid-ground and some nice water flow. I knew with a long exposure I could get some nice leading lines all around me to help the comp work a little better. The 1/3 second exposure worked best to my eye. Incredible humidity made some some foggy lenses, hazy, yet colorful skies, but not until that sun came up past the marine layer. The haze also helped diffuse the light nicely. When I’d return home completely drenched from the ocean, when everyone was just waking up, they didn’t understand what in the world I had been doing out there. It’s hard to explain what motivates us as photographers. I know all of you understand 😉
