Hurry up and dream by Jay Daley
We had left our tents early in the morning (after our close Puma encounter the night before) and made our way up to Salto Grande for some moonlight waterfall goodness. As the countdown to first light ticked on we started paying a closer attention to the clouds above. They were looking good, like, really good. The night before we had set a fairly straight forward plan, waterfall under moonlight then proceed onto the cascades for sunrise. So – the plan was in motion, our waterfall shot was in the bag and we were on route to the cascades but there was one problem, these clouds – they were just looking really promising. What’s more the wind had completely dropped off. “There’s those lakes further up, you don’t think they would be glassy do you?” That was the question that changed it all. Before we knew it we were eagerly on route looking for a new comp. Breaking the plan is never ideal but sometimes you just need to go with the flow. We arrived at the lake and to our astonishment it was indeed glassy, the mountainous back drop was perfect and… those clouds. But we were missing a foreground. We scurried around the bank looking for some interesting drift wood to position in the frame or perhaps a rock, anything to add some depth to our scene. What we found next was simply breathtaking…
