El Capitan Meadows and the Merced River, Yosemite by Patrick Marson Ong
A trip to one of the most visited park in California, Yosemite National Park. Had a short two night stay in Yosemite’s Curry Village last November of 2015. We were on a budget, ended up trying the unheated tent w/ common bath. Mind-blowing experience sleeping below 0 without a heater! Lol! Can’t imagine how others endure camping during winter! Amazing! Yeah two nights. I know right!? Barely scratched the Park’s surface. Had to squeeze in as much locations on our leave from work. Got there on a sunset and it was blah, cloudless. Next day was a bust, raaaainnnn all day! Now the 3rd day was kinda awesome. Clouds dissipated a bit, letting mr. sunshine in, and fog rolling everywhere. Went back to the spot where I took my first photo of Yosemite back in 2012. This time aimed on taking a pano. I was standing exactly on the banks of the Merced river, below El Capitan Drive. I used to cross this river on my waders before, quite easy to go down, make your way across to the meadows and up. Now it seems that the edges are more elevated. Due to erosion maybe? Was planning to shoot it as a pano selfie with me half submerged in the river but it was too freakin cold! Lol! The famous El Capitan on the right, Cathedral Rocks spires on the left (middle and lower cathedral rock). This is a six vertical frame stitched together in photoshop. I invite you to check it out at full screen view! Hope you like it! Feel free to share! Cheers!
