True Grit by Sean Bagshaw

Apparently these peaks were a prominent backdrop for the original 1969 John Wayne version of the film. I haven’t seen it, but hopefully the film crew had some light conditions like this while filming. Zack and I photographed this scene for about two hours. Just when we thought the light couldn’t get any more interesting it would prove us wrong. 5DIII, 24-105mm at 47mm, polarizer. 4/10 of a seconds, f/16, ISO 100. The light range fit in a single exposure but I did quite a bit of developing of the highlights, shadows and color balance to get the image to more accurately communicate the darkness of the clouds and brilliance of the light as I experienced them.
