Prestigious Enescu music competition opens in Bucharest

The Romanian Atheneum during rehearsals two days ahead of the opening ceremony of Enescu Contest in Bucharest on September 4, 2014The George Enescu International Competition, a classical music contest which has served as a springboard for musicians such as pianists Radu Lupu and Elisabeth Leonskaja, opens on Saturday night in Bucharest. While many classical music competitions are dedicated to just one or two instruments, Enescu has four sections: violin, cello, piano and composition.
