By Matilda Egere-Cooper LONDON (Reuters) – Gourmet food proved to be the new rock ’n’roll at a weekend festival in London where 10 acclaimed chefs, three of whom hold Michelin stars, demonstrated their culinary prowess against a backdrop of live music. Headliners at the first On Blackheath Festival included Massive Attack, Grace Jones and Aloe Blacc.

This is one of a few images I’m pretty stoked about from backpacking around the Northwest this summer: Mount Rainier during a stormy sunset, rising high above passing thunderheads. I shot this with my girlfriend Erin last month. For educational purposes and in the interest of full disclosure, here are the exposures that were needed: one for the sky, one for the land, and two for the lightning strikes (which were necessary as separate exposures at f/4, because the strikes weren’t showing up in my base f/16 exposures with all the other light in the scene). Lake Mackenzie, New Zealand. Please view on a black background. Of all the places I visited in NZ the most spectacular for me was Fiordland National Park. In particular Lake Mackenzie, on the famous Routeburn Track, where after a day of hiking in pouring rain I was greeted to this beautiful scene. Complete with waterfalls pouring down the mountains and colourful autumn foliage.
Technically this was a frustrating shoot. I was having a lot of problems with my lens fogging up which made for a tricky blend. 4 exposures were used for the blend then a fair amount of contrast/luminosity work to get it to this stage.
