I took this on a moody, brooding morning in the Sneffels Range of Colorado a couple weeks ago. It didn’t look promising when Zack and I stumbled out of the Falcon a little after 6:00 AM. However, as the morning progressed we had some glimpses of light in the clouds creating a dramatic and dark backdrop to the snow dusted peaks. For just a few seconds, only long enough for me to expose three frames, light touched the top of Mt. Sneffels and that was the defining moment of the morning for me. I did developing work to bring out contrast, sky density and light/shadow contouring in the landscape. I share many of my techniques through my website.
