The Crossing by Mike Olbinski

Those days when you try and try and try to see a supercell but nothing goes up near you and so you try to salvage the day by at least getting a nice shelf cloud in western Nebraska.
June 2nd, 2015…standing here right next to my buddy Matt Grans and his friend Nancee Rostad…this was a perfect moment with zero traffic on the road and a nice little shelf cloud crossing in front of us. Rare to get a time-lapse of something like this from right in the middle of a road and no cars come by…sometimes you risk it and hope for the best!

Devil’s Lair by Timothy Poulton

I’ve been reflecting on the difference between the image and the imagined, and the relationship of imagining to capturing. The technique of visualisation is a skill, you either have an image in your head, you’ve seen an image you love and want to give it your own style or you just arrive and hopefully let the magic happen. Simple visualisation skills may only involve considering the best angle to take a shot, or the sort of light that might bring the best out in a scene. I for one do my research, making sure the sun is at the right angle, the moon is at a certain phase, tides are primed for the best flow and of course being able to predict the weather by observing cloud formations is a skill that is somewhat lost on us modern humans. Most of us can easily look at a cloud and see the unicorn or ice cream cones, but very few of us can look at clouds and predict the conditions. What preparation works goes into your photography or are you just a free spirit and make the most of what you get.

Stormy Morning at North Lake by Nhut Pham

This was taken at North Lake, Bishop, California from my trip to Eastern Sierra last autumn. This was the first time I got two much clouds at this lake. The clouds was too thick and It couldn’t shine the mountain. But I like the mood. There were a lot of photographers at that morning. So I couldn’t get the view I want, because of that I tried to hike around the lake and decided to take photo here. I don’t want to clone the photographers out of my photograph just to keep the memory of that morning! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day/night everyone! Happy New Year! I’ll try to upload more this year btw! LOL 🙂 Photographed by: Nhut Pham
