Candy Light of Lake Mapourika, New Zealand by Patrick Marson Ong

Lake Mapourika, a hidden gem on the West Coast of South Island, New Zealand. A few kilometres north of Franz Josef. Exact coordiantes, 43°19’44.5″S 170°12’50.4”E.
Lost count on how many times Iv’e been there. Seen it on rainy, windy, frosty, foggy, gloomy and clear days. Done some astro too! But the only time I saw this lake explode in candy light was on my first visit. Yeah, pure luck! This was waaay back 4 years ago when just “being there, having fun and don’t know the half of what I was doing with my camera” all that mattered to me hahaha! Good that I was taught to take multiple exposures – over + under’s, I can now go back to my old images and redevelop them properly. Plus with tons of online tutorials, video workflows, processing, even action panels (where a click of a button can do everything for you) that are readily available, I say sky’s the limit when it comes to expressing one’s ART in developing/editing photos ;-). Best tutorials for me? SB’s videos, TK’s Panel and RD’s painting with light! Think about the beauty of life. Do what you love, have fun, be mature and lose the ego. You live only once, enjoy it while you can. Feel free to share! Cheers! I don’t know what has happened to the interpolation of image here in 500px, but the original size is way better than this 🙁

Beyond excited to be leading a photo tour and workshop around the Senja and Lofoten Islands in Norway , we had a beatiful situations for the whole week
I took this on our first night after snowfall over Okshornan mountains, (better known as the Devil’s Teeth) . The sky exploded with a beautiful green aurora. This view point is one of famous location in Senja Island ! Next Winter with my buddy Francesco Russo we will repeat the experience, you join us? Newsletter | Facebook | Instagram This one comes from a trip to the Olympic Peninsula to a location that I had never visited before and that needs further exploring. The plan was to simply keep my eyes open, while scouting locations for upcoming spring workshops, as well as doing some incredibly needed hiking. All of a sudden, and out of a bend in the road, I came upon a foggy area that featured some fantastic crepuscular rays. Needless to say, I parked my car and basically bushwhacked for a couple of hours. It is hard to convey the amazing feeling of being in the rainforest without anyone else around. With all the time in the world to walk amongst giant, mossy trees and with my camera ready to make photographs. This is my idea of a perfect day! Sunrise from the top of a Pagoda, Bagan. It was for sure one of the most espectacular sunrise I have ever witnessed. During the time I was there, it tends to get pretty cold during the night and early morning, so going up there and taking your shoes and sox off (mandatory due to buddhist religion) is quite a challenge! I have heard from a Burmese friend that since yesterday, travellers are no longer allowed to go on the pagodas, so no more sunrise shooting, sorry! I guess I got lucky and went there just a month before this new rule! Anyways, I hope you enjoy it, and thanks a lot for the feedback from last photo, I am amazed!
