Here's a look at some of the rising stars to watch out for in this summer's festival lineups — whether or not you make the trip. When Jay-Jay Johanson's gloomy voice first seduced fans, CDs were king. Hailing from the streaming industry's epicenter of Sweden, Johanson has watched the music business transform firsthand — and he likes what he sees. Johanson — whose quickly recognizable sound couples his plaintive, high-pitched voice with dark electronic soundscapes and sparse but intense beats — tours to make a living, with album sales no longer what they were when he started in the 1990s.

The BBC Proms, an eight-week summer season of classical concerts performed predominantly at The Albert Hall in London, England, starts on July 15 and runs through September 10. New music is an important element of the BBC Proms 2016 season. Thirty premieres in total will be performed, of which 13 will be world premieres and 17 UK or London premieres.
