Rather than just post an image with some unusual story about how it was captured I’m going to keep writing compositional tips. Diagonal lines can work well to draw the eye of an image’s viewer through a landscape. They create points of interest as they intersect with other lines and often give images depth by suggesting perspective. They can also add a sense of action to a picture and add a dynamic look and feel. I’m always on the hunt for angled lines to use as leads and to mimic cloud formations. A single edge of craggy rocks, the line of a gnarly tree and the more obvious shores of lakes and textures in the foreground. A natural way into an image is by traveling left to right and so a diagonal line starting at the bottom left and moving to the top right of a picture can be quite useful and natural. With the touring season about to kick off, I can’t wait to get back in search of these amazing landscapes.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A near fatal stroke couldn't take away the signature baritone of country star Randy Travis, and dozens of his friends, from Garth Brooks to Kenny Rogers, used their voices and his songs to honor the legend.

For example, they’ve done a 1920s-style version of “Gangsta’s Paradise,” they got an extremely sad clown to sing a Lorde song, and they recreated “Welcome to the Jungle” on the harp and cello. Well, for reasons unbeknownst to everyone, their latest video features an Isley Brothers-style rendition of Haddaway’s “What Is Love,” AKA the song from the “Roxbury Guys” SNL sketch/movie, and in the middle of it, The New Day’s Xavier Woods Honor Rolls in to play the tambourine and, of course, the trumpet.

There’s new life at the former Liquid Kitty in West LA, as the understated drink spot on Pico Boulevard flips into a new concept called Neat. Wen Yeh, the backer at spots like BRU HAUS, West End, and The Belmont, is behind Neat, and says the place is looking to be a moodier neighborhood drink destination for a slightly pricier clientele.

Baikal lake in Siberia is a frozen kingdom of ice. I’ve just returned from my photo workshop there. This time we went in January, when ice is very clear and temperatures are quite cold. Baikal lake is always different. This year wasn’t exclusion: many new ice caves and beautiful ice shards all along capes.

The estate of Prince, who long battled the music industry, announced a deal Thursday with the world's largest label group Universal to release much of the pop icon's vast catalog. Under the deal, Universal gained rights to the fabled vault of unreleased music that Prince kept in his Paisley Park estate in Minnesota where he died in April. Universal is also taking control of 25 albums that Prince released on his own NPG Records imprint from the mid-1990s, when he wrote "slave" on his cheek and changed his name to the unpronounceable "love symbol" to fight his contract with Warner Brothers.
