World famous for its canals and gondolas, Venice is a major destination for Mediterranean cruises. More than 600 big ships pass through the Giudecca Canal each year, ferrying millions of passengers to views of the 15th century Doge’s Palace, St. Mark’s Square and other architectural and artistic wonders. Despite years of debate over the impact of the huge cruise liners, they are still allowed to enter the Venetian lagoon and to navigate their way down the Giudecca Canal to the international cruise ship terminal.

Déjà Vu by Herman van den Berge

While at work a customer offered me something to drink last week. We talked a bit about the places we had visited during our holidays. She had just returned home from France and told me she had visited many beautiful villages and other small places. One of those was a small city called Sarlat-la-Caneda. I instantly got a déjà vu because I remembered visiting this wonderful place myself 2 years ago in June. When I got home from work I turned on my computer and browsed me a way through the 2015 holiday season folders. I saw some untouched RAW files that should deliver some nice images with some decent post work. So was it that this (almost forgotten) image came to life. I hope you all enjoy looking at it as much as I did creating it 🙂 Best viewed on black (click image or press “M”)
