The Rock by David Alvarez Velicia

Vallina Beach, in Cudillero, is one of the places that for me represents the essence of the Cantabrian, a powerful coast full of rocky beaches with a thousand corners, caves, arches and rocks of unique shapes. In this image I wanted to highlight the presence of the rock dominating the scene, so I opted for a low shot and a centered framing, also looking for reflections in the small pools that broke the monotony in the foreground. The orientation of the place makes it ideal for sunsets and this time I was very lucky as it was truly spectacular. For the photography I used a Nisi 4 stops soft graduated ND filter to compensate the light difference in the sky. La Playa de Vallina, en Cudillero, es uno de los sitios que para mí representa la esencia del Cantábrico, una costa con carácter, playas rocosas, muchas veces meros pedreros, con mil rincones, cuevas, arcos y rocas de formas singulares. En esta imagen quería destacar el poderío de la roca dominando la escena, por lo que opté por un plano bajo y un encuadre centrado, buscando además los reflejos en las pequeñas pozas que rompiesen la monotonía en el primer plano. La orientación del lugar lo hace ideal para las puestas de sol y en esta ocasión tuve mucha fortuna ya que fue realmente espectacular. Para la realización de la fotografía utilicé un filtro Nisi ND degradado suave de 4 pasos para compensar la diferencia lumínica del cielo.
