The Penumbra of Hoolock ! by Sunil
This classical rim lit image of the female Hoolock Gibbon was captured at the natural habitat for Gibbons at NZP, New Delhi. The tailless Hoolock Gibbon is the only ape found in India. This primate is native to exclusive regions of Northeast India, Southwest China and Parts of Bangladesh. A fascinating creature akin to the humans, parallel in the tree of evolution. They display bipedalism like humans and gibbons can grasp onto branches as if they had hooks in their palms. This is a great adaptation to their mode of locomotion, called brachiation.! A protected species deserving our undivided attention!

From the shores of my mind (II) by Kingshuk Bose
This photo was taken near Harvey’s Beach in the Old Saybrook area of our neighboring state of Connecticut. I was taking a few long-exposure shots trying to capture the sunset mood, when I noticed a couple walking at a distance. I wanted to get a shot with the couple in the frame, but couldn’t afford a long exposure as the couple was moving. So I removed my camera from the tripod, put it in Auto mode, and took a quick shot. I was pleasantly surprised by the result. As aspiring photographers, we tend to avoid the Auto mode in favor of completely Manual or Aperture-priority modes. I have recently realized that the auto mode works quite well in situations where you need to take a quick shot! An ND6 filter was used for this exposure — it simply reduces the amount of light that enters the camera, and does not alter it in any other way. I wish my 500px friends a healthy and happy week ahead!

The Beautiful Mathesongården in Olav Tryggvasons Gate in Trondheim by Aziz Nasuti
www.aziznasutiphotography.com Mathesongården is architect Karl Norum’s second magnificent building in Trondheim. The building was completed in 1898, three years after the Britannia Hotel had received its final design by the same architect and in a similar lush style. The fasade of Mathesongården is richly decorated with pilasters and decorative details, and the cornices gradually build up against the large baroque dome which is surrounded by small towers and balusters. Towards the corner, the initials JM marked the farm’s initiator and owner. The dome is covered with zinc which has been painted green to mimic copper.
