The Hi Hat Converts an Old Poo...
Looks like The Hi Hat in Highland Park is just about ready to plug in and get playing, with news today from Buzzbands.la that the space will be ramping up later this month. The nearly 5,000 square foot space is the work of Dustin Lancaster, Ross Stephenson, and Michael Blackman, who all have backgrounds in the nightlife business, including places as diverse as L&E Oyster Bar, Augustine Wine Bar, and The Hermosillo and Highland Park Brewery just down the street from Hi Hat.

I’m heading back down to one of my favorite places – the Sunshine State – later this week, so in the meantime I’ve been feverishly working up here in my studio. I want to be sure to get caught up with the loads of editing, ordering and packaging for current client orders before heading off on the next big adventure. And speaking of editing, I’ve been spending ample amounts of time staring at this gorgeous face while I get her images edited and ready for her gallery! I just had to take a moment to pause my work in Lightroom to share this amazing little girl with you! GAHH! 🙂 Working with Jessa was like hanging out with the world’s happiest, bounciest, fluffiest cotton ball. And then when she finally got the opportunity to hurl her cute little body into the ocean in a fit of happiness, she immediately transformed from fluffy cotton ball to soggy cotton ball and we laughed until our sides hurt.
And talk about personality and character! Holy moly – Jessa was bouncing this way and that across the beach like she had just downed her very own batch of rocket fuel. She flung her little body up into the sunset sky like a very cute, very wet baby bird taking it’s first flight. As she would hop about with all her unmatched joy and whimsy, little droplets of the sea would follow her this way and that, sending sparkling splashes of water flying into the air all around our heads. I knew in that moment that there was nowhere on the earth that I’d rather be than right there with Jessa and all her gravity-defying magic.
