SXSW Music Festival in full sw...
The South by South West music festival got underway on March 15, inundating the city of Austin, Texas with music from every genre imaginable. This portion of the festival, featuring over 2000 bands, kicked off with a big opening party featuring a lineup of newcomers and returning bands to the levent, including a performance by Argentinian group Capsula playing their version of David Bowie's "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" album in its entirety. Some of the highlights at the festival on opening day included a performance by Iggy Pop playing a 1 hour and 50 minute set of classic and new material at "Austin City Limits" venue, reports Billboard.

Private Workshops
Processing Instruction Here’s another image from last November, a stormy sunrise in southern Utah – I believe one of only two images with sky that I shot in 2 weeks there. I’ve been very slow to work through my rather large 6-month backlog, so I apologize for the drought of new releases lately. More images from these otherworldly badlands, and from winter at Mount Rainier, coming after my relocation back to the Pacific Northwest. Man, the compression is just horrific at 500px now, isn’t it? I guess they can’t handle a 700KB file…

calm morning at Louise by Viktoria Haack
Despite the calm looking vista, my friends and I were flanked by photographers on every side. There was a faint glow of colour in the sunrise but I almost prefer the neutral shades that don’t take away from the gorgeous colour of this lake. Crowded or not, this place always leaves me in awe.

The Mesquite Sand Dunes of Death Valley… Endless sand patterns and giant formations carved by the wind with the occasional explorer appearing in the distance. I loved it here. As I’ve never shot at a location like this, I found it absolutely amazing and a bit overwhelming with all the compositional options and endless dunes to climb. Even showing up mid-afternoon, I’d find myself running in a panic, near exhaustion still trying to post up in the perfect spot for sunset. Interesting how the light changes so quickly bringing out new patterns and shadows. These conditions were as good as it gets with almost no wind, no footsteps and great light. This is surely one of my favorite places I’ve ever shot and I will be back. exposurescape.com
