I’m not doing things conventionally here. In fact I’ll start from the end … Yes the end!
This is a shot from the end of our shooting session at Goðafoss during an absolutely incredible and crazy sunset. It all started not looking really promising as we began the session from the same spot you see here and the sky was looking pretty flat with just a slight golden glow. Then, since there was no wind, we moved to the lower spot close to the river and there suddenly and unexpectedly the sky started to get literally on fire! One of the craziest and more colorful sunset I ever experience in my entire life …! Yes I have shots from the lower spot but they are still on my HD waiting to be processed … As said, this is from the happy ending of that unbelievable and unforgettable sunset, I hope you like it!

Carreras de Caballos. Arroyo de la Luz. by Gabino Cisneros García
El día de la Luz, Declarada Fiesta de Interés Turístico Regional desde 1997, es la Fiesta Mayor de Arroyo, celebrada en honor a su patrona, la Virgen de la Luz, cada Lunes de Pascua. La leyenda cuenta que un atardecer de primavera de 1229, en plena Reconquista, siendo rey de los cristianos Alfonso IX de León, en las inmediaciones del llamado Pozo de las Matanzas, en la Dehesa de la Luz, los cristianos y los moros luchaban en feroz combate. La batalla se prolongaba hasta caer la noche y fue entonces cuando una luz, la de la Virgen, apareció sobre una encina, cegando a los musulmanes e iluminando a los cristianos, que consiguieron así ganar la batalla, al amparo de la luz de la señora, agradecidos le levantaron una ermita en la Dehesa. A lo largo de los siglos ha ido cambiando constantemente la forma de celebrar el Día de la Luz. Los arroyanos iban en procesión hasta la ermita de su patrona, y posteriormente en carros y en carretas. Ese día la Misa se decía al aire libre, de campaña, en un altar que estaba situado en uno de los lados de la ermita. Las Carreras de caballos fueron una consecuencia normal de la Fiesta. Los hombres volvían de la romería con sus caballos enjaezados y sus mujeres a la grupa. La gente del pueblo salía a la calle principal, la Corredera, a ver y a disfrutar del espectáculo del colorido de jinetes tan vistosos y damas tan engalanadas. Así nacieron las ya famosas Carreras de caballos del Día de la Luz. Otra versión es que los moros, derrotados, huían corriendo a caballo por la calle Corredera mientras que los cristianos los perseguían. Y también se habla de los cristianos corriendo por la misma calle para dar la noticia en el pueblo, de su victoria frente a los moros.
