Follow me on Facebook Follow me on Instagram We had kicked off our trip in true Patagonian style – cold, rainy and windy. After a day of shacking up from the rain in our tents things took a turn for the better and the rain finally stopped. We were camping at Lake Pehoe and a few days earlier I had made note of a few locations I wanted to get to before we moved on. If I had more time I would have liked to shoot this tree with better conditions and a nice sunrise but the moody weather made for a fun sunset shoot none-the-less.

Lighthouse shot in Chicago from the Navy Pier. I loved the color of the red pillars in contrast to the blue water and the white lighthouse. I hope you like the picture.

I’m getting excited for our sold out Dolomites workshop this coming August. I am pleased to announce that Erin and I have opened enrollment our 2017 session on July 10th. If you want to join us, check out the information HERE, and shoot me a message! I am also announcing a NEW workshop I will be leading to Hawaii. This trip will be 8 days long and will visit both the Big Island and the Island of Kauai, with an optional 2-day extension. For more info on that, go HERE! I’ve had tremendous feedback on my processing video series where I show you exactly how I create my images from concept to creation. If you’re interested, they are available HERE! Maybe the most foreboding peaks I’ve yet to lay my eyes upon, the Vajolet Towers of the Italian dolomites are stunning to see. They tower above you from this vantage point, with a menacing pose, and if I could ever say a mountain looked evil, it would be these. During our travels in the area, Erin Babnik and I stayed at the hut right at the base, which you juuuuust see in the fog here, a refugio that had remarkable charm and character relative to the norm. The walls were adorned with relics of the past. Old boots, stretchers with 75 year old blood stains, pictures from the world war I era. Going to fantastically impressive natural areas such as this, mixed with such a unique taste of European culture is one of my favorite experiences ever. On this day, the passing blustery summer weather had just enough of a break to allow for a quick moment of dramatic light. Perfect for complimenting the mood of this place. I named this shot after the spikey metal crown that sits on the heads of the villains of the Lord Of The Ring series, The Nazgûl, as that’s what I think of every time I look at this image.
