Unfortunately the gate in front of this little bridge is closed and it is forbidden to enter. The bridge gives access to a very interesting part of Kinderdijk from where I would love to take some shots. Only the families that live in the mills here can open it and won’t give permission to enter it (which is understandable considering the lots of photographers visiting Kinderdijk every day). Btw, I couldn’t resist stamping some birds into the image, I hope you’ll forgive me 🙂

Baita Segantini – I have long been wanting to see this place and it quickly became one of my favourites of this trip. A few months ago I hiked up to this lake only to find it covered in snow & ice. It was particularly rewarding to find it in perfect conditions this time…

Sun mountain by Dany Eid
Sun mountain by Dany Eid
Jebel Shams or the Sun Mountain is the highest mountain in Oman at a height of 3005 meters.
The story of the Jebel starts with the formation of a sea called Tethys, formed when Oman and Iraq parted. In Oman sediments were deposited in relatively shallow water, which later formed the very hard grey limestone found on the jebel. The sea was warm and rich in life, and many fossils can be found throughout the region.
As Tethys was created, submarine volcanoes were formed; the magma from these has turned some of the limestone to marble. When the Tethys Sea began to close about 90,000,000 years ago, the ocean floor was pushed over the land, forming the mountain.
After the formation of the mountain, water erosion has shaped the “ Grand Canyon”, with a vertical drop of 2,100 meters from the summit to the base.
During the winter season, we will run a workshop there of 7 days tour all over Oman
