Traveling through Las Vegas on our way back east I scheduled a shoot with a friend of mine. The Valley of Fire is a beautiful location. If you’re ever in the area I highly recommend going there.

Here’s Daniella paddling amongst the cypress trees of the Atchafalaya Basin. It was late fall and most of the leaves had disappeared from the trees, but I really liked the eery look with that splash of red. This was shot on a very calm, chilly morning, and we had the entire place to ourselves again. Pure magic in one of the most surreal places I have ever visited. – – – If you would to see this amazing scenery yourself – we have set up the world’s first Cypress Swamps photo tour to Louisiana and Texas. We’ve had a cancellation on our 3-12 November 2016 tour, so we now have one opening on that trip. When we first announced this tour it filled up within 48 hours, so this is your chance to join us in two months! This is a unique photo adventure that will result in unique images. We will take you to the best spots and give you tons of tips on how to get the best results. If you’re interested, and of course you are, have a look at the tour brochure here: ow.ly/R5fl1003dHi Looking forward to paddling with you! Click here to follow me on Facebook and here to follow my Instagram account. I’ll be honest; Santorini in Greece was never on top of my bucket list. But that applies to any place by the sea. Having lived in the UAE for the past 25 years, the sight of the beach leaves me rather inert. I crave for mountainous, greener countries where rain, fog and snow are the norm. So, with my expectations set on the lowest notch, I went to Santorini to attend the friend’s wedding. Yes, it’s overcrowded as expected. Yes, there’s a lot of touristy kitsch everywhere, of which no major tourist trap is spared. Yes, it’s shamefully overpriced during the high season. But I have to admit; Santorini is painfully, excruciatingly charming. Those white hobbiton-like houses with rounded-off edges. Those doll-like staircases, cobble-stone paving, narrow alleys and sun-drenched rooftops that look like M.C. Escher’s inspiration. That heavenly blue sky and the Northerly sea breeze which comes like a promise of happiness as it foams the water crests. The chilled out vibe in the air and the fragrance of flowers climbing the walls and the alleys. That seafood, like a gift from the Gods and that wine, the nectar of Greece. That detached, sleepy, exciting, summery vibe we dream about when our lives get cruel….Santorini, my friends, did good on its legend. As did the sunset which somehow, feels like the jewel on the crown of it all.
Featured is a 300 megapixels, blue-hour panorama of Oia, the most beautiful city on the Santorini island. This picture doesn’t really do it justice. I tried though. Canon 5DsR + Canon 70-300mm
