One the most beautiful moments in nature that I’ve beheld, as I attempted to capture the fleeting light across the expansive field of ice and snow.

New York state of mind … by Kingshuk Bose
I happened to be in New York City last weekend, helping my son complete the move into his apartment in Brooklyn as the offices are opening up and he plans to physically report to work a few times a week. I did not plan anything in terms of photo shoots. But it turned out that the DUMBO area in Brooklyn is about a 25-minute walk from his apartment, and we were going to go there for dinner anyway. I hauled my gear with me for the walk (good exercise), and tried taking a few night shots of the iconic Brooklyn bridge with the Manhattan skyline in the background. I share one of those shots here — hope you like it. I wish my 500px friends a healthy and happy week ahead!

The Val d’Orcia or Valdorcia is a region of Tuscany, central Italy, which extends from the hills south of Siena to Monte Amiata. Its gentle, cultivated hills are occasionally broken by gullies and by picturesque towns and villages such as Pienza (rebuilt as an “ideal town” in the 15th century under the patronage of Pope Pius II), Radicofani (home to the notorious brigand-hero Ghino di Tacco) and Montalcino (the Brunello di Montalcino is counted among the most prestigious of Italian wines). Its landscape has been depicted in works of art from Renaissance painting to modern photography.
The Val d’Orcia was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 2004.
