A forgotten art by Marco Gelpi
A forgotten art by Marco Gelpi
The first descriptions of cormorant fishing date back to 600CE in Japan and China. Originally practiced for sustenance, it is nowadays under threat and mainly performed for tourists. In one of these occasions I had the chance to get to know one of these fishermen. Oddly enough, the most interesting picture I took in the whole day was after the “performance”, in a moment of well-deserved relax for both the cormorant and the fisherman.
