Glass Morning by Peter Coskun ...
Glass Morning by Peter Coskun Nature Photography
The very first morning from my trip to Glacier National Park. We awoke to clear skies and haze with a number of wildfires burning nearby. This was my third visit to the park, and I had never photographed the Lake McDonald area. Since we were staying on the west side, it was the perfect time to finally photograph it. While it seems that this is more of a sunset location, I was still quite happy to photograph it for sunrise. The rocks along the shoreline and underneath the water are some of the most colorful I’ve ever seen and the glasslike stillness of the water allowed me to see them as if there was no water at all. Some of the smoke created some depth and layers within the mountains in the background that were intensified once the sun finally came up. Despite the clear skies, it was a rather perfect morning along the shores of one of the most beautiful and picturesque lakes I’ve ever visited.

Here is the solar eclipse shot I took yesterday in Idaho. It’s a blend of 7 images so the light close to the edge of the moon is about the same as light further away. Normally light close to the edge is much brighter and will get quickly overexposed. To remedy the problem I took 7 shots starting with 1/1000 going down to about 1/15 of a sec. This allowed me to get longer/larger corona.
There’s some noise in the image, I know. I left it on purpose so that the posterization doesn’t develop when image is compressed and saved for the web.
Shot with my Pentax K-1 and Pentax 150-450mm f/4.0-5.6 WR lens and Pentax 1.7TC so the focal length was 765mm at f/11 and ISO 1000.
