New Zealand I really should have taken a timelapse of this scene to do it justice with the light that was constantly changing with moving clouds. One of my favourite moments on the trail despite there not being too much colour! This was taken with a 10 stop ND filter giving it a different look to the previous post from here.

Soothing Stillness by Ramunas ...
Soothing Stillness by Ramunas K Fishermang
Dusk creeps inwards, lays out its wings across the lake and rises upwards, swallowing the land, the trees, and us, out there in search of an adventure. An invisible mist if you will. A much calmer scenery this time, curious to see what you think of it. We were driving and exploring and with twilight approaching quickly I was sporadically looking for motifs in the passing-by landscape. This was found near the end of a dusty old road. When I saw the mountains reflecting and a variety of trees I made a decision to try and settle for this. While capturing this a small tiny furry guy ran across the rocks below, unfortunately too quick for me to capture. Talk about idyllic eh? About composition: I wanted a frame made out of autumn trees, but at the same time needed a good view over the reflection and the sunlit mountain top on the left side as one of the main parts. Backing uphill a bit helped achieve more or less what I wanted. The rock sticking out of the water was a fine bonus to me. About processing: Achieved by merging two shots, although in retrospect I think I could have done the same with just one file. The glow in the sky which I found quite magical was more apparent in the darker exposure I did, and I preferred to bring it directly from RAW instead of coloring it manually later. The glow in the sky was achieved by a strict S curve on midtones. Otherwise I did the usual white balance work, this time on slightly bluer side to bring forth the contrast with autumn leaves, and spent some time adjusting the brightness (or rather darkness) in the sky, mountains, reflection and the trees – so that they would fit together, but still show enough detail. A thing that is always difficult to achieve, but I think it worked. Lastly I brightened the sunlit mountain top a bit to make it more visible against the sky. Feel free to let me know what you think, be it praise or criticism, I would love to hear your thoughts anyway! Cheers!
