After really bad weather for 10 days I was finally able to fly the drone in the Faroes. I carried the drone on the long hike with hope the wind would let up. After a morning storm passed, the wind finally gave me a chance to fly… I was even able to capture a double rainbow! I was so nervous to fly since my friend @gdmphoto let me borrow his drone after I crashed mine the day before we left on the trip. All the extra effort to get the drone was worth it! @visitfaroeislands #faroeislands

Winter is the time when nature really likes to show off its painting skills. When everything is white and on the rather monotonic side, nature likes to use these white sheets to draw patterns, curves and strange shapes. Nature does often forget that the sky is still colorful and sometimes it too shows strange patterns and formations. I noticed these patterns when skiing earlier in December. The current conditions almost always give a golden hour and I wanted to give a sense of atmosphere with a long exposure which I think accompanies the snowy formations well. Additionally the colors that show up during winter time are always really vibrant, but not too vivid, giving off this twilight feel I like so much. In processing I did a bit of cropping to give the tree a bigger role. I did a mix of warm and cold colors both in white balance in RAW and later in Photoshop, and did a bunch of darkening to give a stronger sense of mood. I wanted to convey a lonely and desolate atmosphere. What do you think?
