Three Days of the Condor by Timothy Poulton

After an uninspiring sunset at Lake Pehoe and a lackluster sunrise at Mirador Cuernos, I headed back to Rio Serrano for breakfast. Having captured both locations so many times, it takes a lot for me to get inspired and creative unless I’m shooting with friends. I’m missing my pals Mark Handy, Scott Buttigieg and Eric Bennett this year so it will be good when the others arrive. During breakfast I noticed loads of the guests running out with cameras, selfie sticks, and Go-Pros and wondered what all the fuss was about, don’t get me wrong the view of Torres del Paine from the resort is pure awesomeness, but this had to be something else. A magnificent scene of condors was flying over the area. After everything settled down, fueled by coffee and pastries, I grabbed my FujiFilm GFX50s and 110mm and headed up to Mirador Rio Serrano, finding I was just to low for the scene I wanted to capture I started hiking up the mountain behind me. After reaching the summit and being able to see in all directions, these massive Andean Condors were floating on the thermal air currents behind me in search of prey heading for the mountains. I’ve been blessed with many beautiful moments in my photography career, but this was on another level and something I’ll never forget. I look out of this window, and I think this is a cosmos, this is a vast creation, this is one small corner of it. The trees and birds and everything else and I’m part of it. I didn’t ask to be put here, I’ve been lucky in finding myself here. Can’t wait to get this framed and hung on the wall.

Stairway To Heaven by David Alvarez Velicia

Trying to find a different framing of the famous Playa Del Silencio (Asturias, north of Spain), after climbing a small path hidden in the undergrowth, I came to this point where you could see the zigzag of the descending stairs and I thought it was original to include them in the composition. The day was difficult because it was very windy and you could hardly find a place to put the tripod but the sunset, as usually happens in these kind of days, was really beautiful and worth it. Shooted with a Laowa 12mm Zero-D, a Nisi 4 stops soft graduated ND filter, a Hitech 7 stops ND filter and a Nisi filterholder. Intentando buscar un encuadre diferente de la famosa Playa Del Silencio, tras subir por un pequeño camino escondido entre la maleza, llegué a este punto en el que se podía ver el zigzag de las escaleras de bajada y me pareció original incluirlas en la composición. El día era complicado porque hacía muchísimo viento y a duras penas se podía encontrar un sitio donde poner el trípode pero la puesta de sol, como suele pasar en este tipo de días, fue realmente bonita y mereció la pena. Toma realizada con un Laowa 12mm Zero-D, un filtro ND Nisi degradado suave de 4 pasos, un filtro ND Hitech de 7 pasos y un portafiltros Nisi.
