Very hard to shoot in a crowded canyon with people shoulder to shoulder. It requires fast reaction and luck. But in the end, it was very a rewarding experience.

Lamenting Light by Timothy Pou...
Lamenting Light by Timothy Poulton
As an outdoor landscape photographer, I’m used to seeing places change over the years. I captured Patagonian peaks with only a handful of photographers in 2011 and now find hoards at every composition made famous by Instagram. A traveling photographer learns to seize the moment with light and colour, because it may not look the same on the next visit, or even an hour from now. An elusive mountain range shrouded in clouds, only to reveal its majesty to the patient few. In a way, that is part of the appeal of doing what I do; I interpret a unique and fragile bit of time and space through the medium of imagery. I started out as a studio photographer, but my love of wild places lured me to capture from life, with all the attendant challenges of changing light, wind and weather, people, and hard-to-reach locations. The Greek philosopher Heraclitus wrote, “You cannot step in the same stream twice.” Go easy on this planet for it’s the only one we have. There is something in every one of you that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in yourself. It is the only real guide you will ever have. And if you cannot hear it, you will all of your life spend your days on the ends of strings that somebody else pulls.
