The smoke from the lazy flames of this controlled burn electrified the already stunning sunset, and this essential source of nutrient cycling had the forest in a blissful state of stillness.
Fire is seldom a long-term ecological issue. It’s a human-manipulated natural phenomenon, and it devastates our human structures, our homes, and our lives. Terrifyingly, the frequency of destructive wildfires only projects to escalate in the decades to come. My heart goes out to all those effected by the catastrophic wildfires in California.
If anybody is in a position to help, both american red cross and the california community foundation raise funds to support relief and recovery efforts for California wildfires.
