Afterglow by Daniel Kordan
Afterglow by Daniel Kordan
There is a “second life” of landscape shot made in the desert 20-30 minutes after sunset. Sand has textures now, and soft pink light is received from afterglow. Dunes are not flat anymore, and pictures have a bit more magic. Death valley sand dunes.

Winter came surprisingly earlier this year in Iceland, which meant suddenly closed highland roads, blocking the access to some of the most sacred lands of this unique country. After some wise advice of caution but also of encouragement, we put all our trust into our vehicle’s capability to tackle snowy mountain roads, and there we went to the mythical Landmannalaugar area. The whole place was absolutely unrecognizable, as the classic rhyolite multi-colored mountains gave place to epic snowed mountains and frozen river streams. The disappointment with the lack of color was quickly replaced by the thrill of being able to cross the F208 mountain road right before it would be definitely closed, witnessing the place in incredible conditions like the one in this picture. This place is a paradise for drone shooting and, as soon as you start rising higher with it, the whole landscape gains a new dimension. The weather was quite unstable, with dense clouds filling most of the sky, letting just the right amount of sunlight bathe the multiple river streams during a brief moment of time.
