Little over a year ago I fulfilled a longtime wish by visiting the Yemeni island of Socotra – an incredible experience. As nations around the world are battling the pandemic and economies are crumbling, we seem to be more concerned about our own well-being than ever before. While this is understandable, it’s good to realize that you’re probably still one of the lucky ones. Yemen has been ravaged by a five-year civil war which has sparked the world’s largest humanitarian crisis in terms of numbers, pushed two-thirds of the country to the brink famine, and prompted the worst outbreak of cholera in modern history. To make matters worse, the capital was hit by heavy flash floods causing widespread disruption. Yemen has had one of the world’s largest cholera outbreaks in recent memory and health officials have been dreading the eventual appearance of coronavirus in the country. This has now happened. The ministry of health recently announced that one case has been discovered. The International Rescue Committee said that more than half of Yemen’s health facilities are no longer functioning and 18 million people are without access to proper hygiene, water, and sanitation. Moreover, around 80% of the population, or 24 million people, rely on humanitarian assistance. As so often, there is not much you can do other than to donate money. If you have a few bucks to spare, consider donating to rescue.org Marsel | squiver.com

|| MAGICAL PLATEAU || by Bruno Soares
When you travel to Italy, Dolomites are not the destination that comes to the will of most people. Maybe this is why these mountains are so magical!
This magic begins as soon as the road leaves its straight lines and they begin to meander through majestic trees.
That same magic is shown when you think you are on a field looking at the mountains, when in fact you are in the middle of them looking at authentical fingers coming out of that ground rising even higher! Suddenly it is night and a storm arrives. Something so strong that it will pull trees from the ground turning this whole stage into a Mikado game. It is still night when you wake up, with a more eased Mother Nature. You decide to go out to see what happened, because out there everything green, yellow and reddish became white. You start driving up the road, the car skates, it’s ice you have under the wheels!
You keep going to arrive in time to see the sun warming that white velvet cloak. And you have to do it in an epic location, on the largest plateau in Europe that rises almost 2000m in altitude! In the Alpe di Siusi! If you already felt big for being so high, your heart would be filled by the sight of the horizon with authentic pink stone cliffs, that had once been under the sea, rising from the ground, and your soul would be warmed by the cosy wooden houses all over the plateau that snuggled you from the cold your body felt.

Fantastic Mrs. Fox
All foxes are wonderful beings, but some foxes are just funnier, more original, smarter or lovelier than others. And some are just… the best!
