Sunrise at Boulder Beach, Acadia National Park, Maine by John S
Nestled between Otter Cliff and Monument Cove in Acadia National Park is this gem of a beach strewn with rocks of all shapes and sizes. The rock surfaces have been smoothed through years of erosive actions of wind and water and make for an excellent foreground for landscape or astro photography. On this day, the weather wasn’t entirely cooperative. There were heavy clouds all through the night and low lying clouds at the horizon during sunrise. The sun had a hard time peaking through the clouds to light up the sky. But the glow from the horizon did cast a great reddish glow on the rocks in the foreground. The little snow accumulation from the overnight sprinkling added just the perfect counter to the warm tones on the rocks.

Tower Bridge by night by Nicol...
Tower Bridge by night by Nicolas Barison
Tower Bridge is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, built between 1886 and 1894. The bridge crosses the River Thames close to the Tower of London and has become an iconic symbol of London. As a result, it is sometimes confused with London Bridge, about half a mile (0.8 km) upstream. Tower Bridge is one of five London bridges owned and maintained by the Bridge House Estates, a charitable trust overseen by the City of London Corporation. It is the only one of the trust’s bridges not to connect the City of London directly to the Southwark bank, as its northern landfall is in Tower Hamlets. The bridge consists of two bridge towers tied together at the upper level by two horizontal walkways, designed to withstand the horizontal tension forces imposed by the suspended sections of the bridge on the landward sides of the towers. The vertical components of the forces in the suspended sections and the vertical reactions of the two walkways are carried by the two robust towers. The bascule pivots and operating machinery are housed in the base of each tower.

Mystical by David Alvarez Veli...
Mystical by David Alvarez Velicia
In this photography I’ve tried to make a very long exposure that creates a marked misty effect of the water and gives the whole scene a mystical appearance. In the frame I wanted to enhance the depth of the image by capturing the movement of the clouds perpendicular to the horizon. To achieve the mistiness of the water at its maximum splendor it was necessary to have a day with big waves, which made it very difficult to take the image since the waves splash the camera directly and made it necessary to cover it at each hit to avoid splatters in the lens and filters. The image was taken at Fontaniecha Beach (Asturias, north of Spain) and I used a Haida 10 stops ND filter and a Nisi 4 stops soft graduated ND filter to make it.
