Hi! This is a retouch of a previously-uploaded photo. The description of this photo goes as the followings: Day 1: I had planned to shoot at sunset on the first day of my trip. I found an awesome spot, and felt like that I was going to take the shot of my life. It was a high tide and I could see three-meter waves in the distance. I did lots of mental calculations and convinced myself that waves would not pass up my knee from where I was standing. Then I turned back, and got busy doing final adjustments, but suddenly heard a big roar and bang! Water splashed up to my chest. I was caught in a big wave but luckily didn’t fall over. I instantly looked at my camera to find out that it was all wet… I had to rush back to motel to use tissue and dryer to dry it up. I did not take a single shot on the first day! Day 2: I was so happy that my camera could survive sea water. I put on the second set of clothes that I had brought with me. So, I was ready for sunrise shots next day. I was happy with myself that I was so wise to bring a spare clothes for a one-day trip. It was a high tide again and waves were even bigger than the day before. I decided to keep a reasonable distance from the ocean this time. Now just my feet were in the water. I started clicking and this shot was one the first ones that I took. I continued shooting for half an hour or so until I was ambushed by the mother nature again; I caught in an odd big wave which went up to my wrist… Water was still dribbling from my shorts when I was checking out from the motel an hour later. Anyway, at least I was happy with the outcome. Hope that you’ll like it too!

This is an image that I took over the summer in Jasper National Park. The hike in was long and muddy, but once I reached this valley I was truly stunned. I have seen images from here, but being there for myself was simply wonderful. The winners of this year’s ANZANG photography contest were recently announced and my image “bird tree” was named runner-up for the monochrome category. Please follow the link below to check out some of the other winners! www.anzang.samuseum.sa.gov.au/gallery/?year=2014&category=Monochrome&iswinneronly=true

This is 2 exposures blended together using my advanced Photoshop tonality control and multiple exposure blending techniques. I produced a video detailing these techniques, it’s available here: www.zschnepf.com This might look familiar, my good friend Sean Bagshaw already posted his gorgeous version of this last week. He and I just returned from an epic trip to Colorado chasing the fall color. On this evening we were working a different location when we saw this storm rolling in just in time for sunset. I said to Sean “we need to go there right now”. We tossed the gear in the rig and quickly headed down to this spot we had scouted earlier. We both hopped out and setup in record time, just in time to capture this very photo. Thanks for commenting!

Please click on the image to view on black. I’m finally getting around to processing some images from this past Summer. This is a very well known scene from Mount Rainier National Park. While there was a beautiful sunset over the Tatoosh Range, my primary interest was on a vibrant, lovely patch of wildflowers that I discovered. I tried to place focus on those here with this image. The title comes from one of my favorite quotes: “We need the tonic of wildness…At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.” ~ Henry David Thoreau www.candacebartlettphotography.com
