Everest (Kangshung Face) by Marc Adamus
I wanted to make sure I got to post at least one of my images of Mount Everest here, since there is nowhere like Tibet if you want great views of the great one. If you are like me, you would prefer this one of just Everest’s summit: www.marcadamus.com/photo/everest-2/ But here I wanted to show a little more, and show off the mountain in a more hospitable type of light. I made an X on the map at this spot before we even went hiking because based on my map research of the angles and my knowledge of how glacial rivers carve wide drainages, I knew there must be some good opportunities here for a landscape shot that put Everest in the forefront with fall colors nearby, probably the only place in the world where such a shot exists, and one I had not seen before. To the left of Everest is Lhotse and Lhotse Shar, all 8000m + ** Follow up thought. It’s interesting to see responses to the use of a more traditional type of landscape lighting in this image when comparing to the trend these days to go into the direct, more dramatic light. Thanks for looking.

Fog Movement – For PA by Pat Morgan (墨沛德)
The Yuanyang Rice Terraces 元陽 are one of the most peaceful places for me. I find the movement of fog quite musical. This image was taken from the porch of my hostel at the Duoyishu point of the terraces 多依树 in the morning. PA – I read you comment while sitting in the airport and thought I’d post an oldie that I think you’d like. Your images showcase an intrinsic connection between humans and nature – and I couldn’t think of a more poignant place than Yunnan, where humans carved into nature to create a sustaining beautify that feeds farming communities.

Sunrise at St. Andrews Bay by Mike Reyfman
We are now back after an extremely successful photo expedition to an Antarctic South Georgia Island. Everyone is super happy with the results and even moody Southern Ocean was mostly indulgent to us on this trip. We have landed @ St. Andrews Bay before sunrise and had a beautiful light on the shore. To learn about our future plans please visit WorldPhotoTravels.com for our expeditions schedule or follow me on Facebook for latest updates and photos.
