I uploaded this a few years back and wanted to upload a larger version. I took this photo on a trip to the Olympic Peninsula with David M. Cobb a few years back. I captured this image while we were scouting for a workshop. Everything lined up for us on that night. This was probably my 10th trip to this beach and the best conditions I’ve captured here. One of my favorite beaches anywhere.
This image was created using the techniques in my latest instructional video. Last one I’ll post here for a while folks, as I’ll be busy for the next several weeks. This one is going back a long time, back to a different style of photography than I’ve presented recently, back to a place I remember fondly located on the least-visited north face of Mount Rainier. The location is well off trail and offers some of the very best flowers and views of the peak. I figured it would be a good one to share in February when we’re all pretty tired of winter (except for me). I made this image so long ago I knew little about processing color but have since reworked it. It was an amazing clearing through the fog after a day of clouds and rain, however, it was a challenge to do a shot without mosquitoes on the lens.
