A Conversation by Ted Gore

The sun sets behind Mt. Tom, Basin Mountain, and the Four Gables one winter afternoon in the Eastern Sierra as a lone pine tree, branches outstretched, as if in worship, seemingly engages in a dialogue with it’s provider. The relationship between the tree, the land, the mountain and the sun played out a perfect scene for me, and helped me to transcend the technicalities of composition, and instead, see a story. A story of survival, adaptation, change, and dependance. Interesting how we can find metaphors for our complicated lives in the simplicity of nature, which in turn can make you feel so small and simple lost in the complicated natural world around us. Elowah by Ryan Buchanan

Had to make it to Elowah Falls on my Oregon trip as I think it’s one of the more impressive looking waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge. Tough to find a unique composition here anymore, but the flow was just right to catch some nice water movement in the foreground. With the rain coming down and water splashing up from below, this was not exactly an easy shot. I think I captured only this one useable shot that wasn’t completely blurred or splashed.
