The Forgotten and the Famous by Max Rive
I wanted to find something unique for my upcoming ‘Patagonia 2017 workshop and I hope I succeeded here. This is a 9 shot panorama showing an incredible field of view. It was a pretty tough job to merge everything without noticing too much distortion. The most difficult thing was to get the exposure right on the burned tree on the front. I had to do some exposure blending and still you can barely see any detail.

Another shot from last week’s nice sunrise on the Geum River. Every night the dam upstream releases a bit of water that fills this area with fresh cold water that seems to create a lot of fog this time of year when it meets the warm humid air in the morning. Makes for nice dreamy scenes like this whenever the weather is humid enough.

Dronningens utsikt (The Queen’s View) offers a great view over Tyrifjorden (to the left), Steinsfjorden (to the right) and Ringerike (Viking-land of old). The pano is made from nine 16mm frames with plenty of overlap, and I made it pretty wide so that I could have plenty of leeway when it came to the crop. I opted for a 3 stop soft ND filter to balance the light. The first version which I uploaded of this image was lacking in so many ways, so I chose to remove that version and continue working on the pano. Of course I am inspired by Max Rive.

There’s a peaceful and powerful presence to be found within the midst of mountains. Partnered with a sea of stars, it’s relatively easy to gain a clear perspective on life and what truly matters most.
