Sunrise inside an isolated cave off the coast of NSW Australia. This remains one of the more memorable and powerful moments I have shared with the sea.

Bled Island glistening in the first sun light of the day – Without a doubt the most memorable moment I had in Slovenia.

Processing Instruction Deep in the Queets Rainforest of Olympic National Park, Washington, a lone oxalis flower blooms, guarded by a ring of oak ferns. This spring, I spent four days hiking and wading over 20 miles in this dense, lush, and wild forest with my friends Ted Gore and TJ Thorne. Camping on the shores of a glacial river in stands of alder, a stone’s throw from the greenest place you can imagine, is something I won’t soon forget. As anyone who has shot the rainforest will know, distilling the chaos into a composition that works is no easy task. As of the final day, after all those miles, I had but one image to show for it. During the hike out, I glanced down at a fortunate moment and noticed this arrangement, which ended up being the better of the mere two images I made. Not the kind of photograph one expects from a trip that requires fording a river and bushwhacking with a heavy pack, bear canister, and waders in tow!

Exposure of the Hundertwasser House in Vienna.
The Hundertwasser House in Vienna is one of Austria’s architectural highlights. The house designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser draws visitors from around the world.
The Hundertwasser House in Vienna bears the unmistakable hand of the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, whose pen-name was Friedrich Stowasser. The colorfully decorated exterior façade of Hundertwasser House in Vienna draws attention to itself almost magically. Anyone who lives in the Hundertwasser House also has the right to decorate the façade around the windows entirely to their own taste. More than 200 trees and shrubs on the balconies and roof terraces make the Hundertwasserhaus a green oasis in the heart of the city.
