Le grand, Glacier National Park, USA by Patrick Marson Ong
www.patrickmarsonong.com Just came back from an awesome two-week vacation at Glacier National Park, Montana. Had the privilege to spend my birthday with my best of friends. From being surrounded by glistening lakes, towering mountains, glaciers, rushing rivers and waterfalls, to close encounters with elks, big horn sheeps, deers, foxes and bears, it was definitely a one of a kind experience for us. Had this trip planned since the beginning of the year. Searched through a ton of photos and plotted all the locations via google street views. Hand’s down to the generosity of Ryan Buchanan, dude thanks for giving me the how-to’s of this paradise, you made this trip of ours EPIC. Wished you could have joined us! Ah, Terence Lee da great, thanks for the tips man. And to Dustin Wong, who we “bumped into” in the park and get to spend some awesome time shootin’, keep rockin buddy. This is one of those popular spots within Glacier National Park. To be able to see it in person on a descent morning is definitely rewarding!! A three horizontal frame stitched together to produce this vertical panorama! Enjoy! Feel free to share! Enjoy! Feel free to share!

Even though I grew up in the north of Norway I have never been to Lofoten before. Admittedly, the scenery made a huge impression on me. For some reason I had imagined I would be surrounded by a multitude of photographers on Sakrisøy, but I spent the evening alone shooting my panos. Reine to the left – Hamnøy to the right. Fortunately, we had one day with very pleasant weather during our three day stay in Lofoten. Jotunn is Norrøn (old-norse) and translates into Giant.

I have come to realise that all Eastern Europeans are crazy :). And I mean that as a huge compliment. Whilst spending an hour down at Pulpit Rock, I was joined by a photographer from that part of the world who simply wasn’t content with the shot I managed to get and decided to climb down into the sea and get some shots from really low down. In the end, it cost him his Big Stopper. No, that is not a euphemism, it is the nickname for a 10-stop Lee Filter. Anyway, I think his name was Eric, the wind was so strong and loud that I could barely hear what he was saying. But I was jealous that he had managed to climb down the rock face and that he was brave enough to stand practically in the sea whilst taking his images. I thought I was a risk taker when it came to getting in the right place for the shot, standing on crumbling ledges and on the edges of cliffs – but ‘Eric’ took the word crazy to an entirely new level :). I left before he did…I hope he managed to climb back up ok!

Personal online lessons and video tutorials. I will share everything I know about natural light, composition, retouching and colors. I found my own way in retouching, you will be surprised how simple it is. All you need to know is Photoshop basics (you can be an absolute beginner). I dont use frequency separation, masks and any complicated methods. It’s really simple and very fast. Usually, it’s only 10-30 minutes of work with one photo. And the result is good enough for covers! Write me by email for personal online lessons – outofsight@mail.ru
