The beginning of Sept a year ago offered one of the most amazing auroras I have ever seen, and it displayed such a rich variety of colors. Not sure why I have been sitting so long on the two raw files that constitute this image. The light was so strong that I had to underexpose quite a bit not to blow out the colors and highlights – the shadow exposure is iso 3200 f4 and 182 secs. I’ve been reluctant to release this panoramic due to the amount of images from Patagonia and in particular Lake Pehoé. Being one of the main perpetrators and getting a little flack I’ve held back until now. One of my clients has just purchased a massive 3 metre print and seeing it on the wall has inspired me to finally make it public. Both my tours with legend Sarah Hatton are sold out next year and with local operators assisting us it’s going to be one hell of an epic adventure, with a prelude hike into Paso del Viento for the seriously brave, autumn in South America can’t come soon enough. We still have spots for our adventures into the Yukon with Chris Collacott, Japan with Sarah Hatton and the Antarctic Peninsula. oneofakind.photography
